DESIRE VS DESIRE.
"So they ate and were well filled, For He gave them their OWN DESIRE. They were not deprived of their craving; But while their food was still in their mouths,
(Psa.78.29-30.NKJV)
Compare the above scripture to this:
"Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give YOU THE DESIRES OF YOUR HEART." (Psa.37.4.NKJV)
The former resulted in disaster while the later produced an anointed result. Most probably the same heart-felt-desires but one was processed without God while the other was processed through God.
When David committed adultery and murder with Bathsheba/Uriah and was confronted by the prophet Nathan, here is part of the message of God to David: "I gave your master’s house to you, and your master’s wives into your arms. I gave you all Israel and Judah. AND IF ALL THIS HAD BEEN TOO LITTLE, I WOULD HAVE GIVEN YOU EVEN MORE" (2 Sam.12.8.NIV). If only he had channeled it through God, which would have honoured God not despised Him, his heart DESIRE would still have been blessed. Why? Because he delighted in God. He consulted, he sought approval, he acknowledged and reverence God.
When the Israelites, insisted on their own way and desires rather than humbly submitting to God, He gave them their heart desire. "......but for a whole month—until it comes out of your nostrils and you loathe it—because you have rejected the Lord, who is among you, and have wailed before him, saying, “Why did we ever leave Egypt?” (Num.11.20.NIV). The consequence was a very great plague that fell in their midst (Num.11:33)
Many have fallen under the thin-line difference of God's approval and seemingly God's approval - your desire-driven solution at the exclusion of God. Many of us have experienced this. We convinced ourselves that our desire was granted in our dreams, visions or by twisting the message to fit our narratives. What usually follows is disaster and regret (wrong choice). ‘These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me." (Mat.15.8.NLT)
THE WORD: “Commit your way to the Lord, Trust also in Him, And He shall bring it to pass. He shall bring forth your righteousness as the light, And your justice as the noonday" (Psa.37.5-6.NKJV)
