GENEROSITY LEADS TO PROSPERITY (2)
"If you cling to your life, you will lose it; but if you give up your life for me, you will find it." (Mat.10.39.NLT)

Remember that all things God created are handed over to us freely. The greatest gift of all, is life. Though this gifts are handed over to us for free and freely, we are still accountable for how we use these gifts. We are responsible to Him for their proper use.

This is an area that we falter. 'Freely we received; freely we are expected to give back.' (Mat 10:8) Our greed becomes obvious because we forget who owns our lives. "He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? (Rom.8.32.NIV). Evidence that we receive first, and are expected to give back. It is written: "we love Him because He first loved us." (1 John 4:19)

The truth is, we make the best use of what we freely receive when we give it back to God the owner - even problems we brought on ourselves (Mat. 11:28)
Gold is not refined until it has gone through fire. Yes, we receive freely but do we know the worth of what we have received? It is like a child born into wealth, never lifted his hand to work even for a day, he spends money he never worked for, soon he becomes arrogant believing he owns the world.

God is not asking us to give back what He has not given neither does He wants to take it away. Rather, when we give back, He makes it better and it is more beneficial to all. Our generous giving leads to our prosperity. Recall the parable of the talents.

Lot's wife placed her affections on earthly society. She refused to  give her life back to the owner even when God sent His angels to her rescue (Heb.11:10).

The world today, has the same opportunity as Lot's wife. The Lord sent Jesus Christ to rescue us from the fire of Sodom and Gomorrah. The question is; which do we love - heavenly things or earthly things. One will prosper us; the other will destroy us.

When we place little importance in the pleasures, successes, values, goals, or ways of the world, we will gain "eternal life." That is more than we deserve.

THE WORD: Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops; [10] then your barns will be filled to overflowing, and your vats will brim over with new wine." (Pro.3.9-10.NIV)
