PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.
Sept. 26th, 2025
HYPOCRISY IN IT'S RAW FORM.
Hypocrisy, according to the Dictionary, is a situation in which someone pretends to believe something that they do not really believe or that is the opposite of what they do or say at another time. A pretense of having a virtuous character, moral or religious beliefs or principles that one does not really possess. Simply put, Hypocrisy is insincerity.
The Bible however define hypocrisy as 'lying to God.' (Acts 5:4). Hypocrisy is sin and a serious one too.
Jesus echoes Isaiah (29:13) when He said, "These people honor me with their lips, but their hearts are far from me. Their worship is a farce, for they teach man-made ideas as commands from God.’ ”
(Mat.15.8-9.NLT)
Hypocrisy is synonymous with the Pharisees and Jesus warns: “Watch out!” Jesus warned them. “Beware of the yeast of the Pharisees and Sadducees.(Mat.16.6.NLT) For instance, God says, ‘Honor your father and mother,’ and ‘Anyone who speaks disrespectfully of father or mother must be put to death.’ But you say it is all right for people to say to their parents, ‘Sorry, I can’t help you. For I have vowed to give to God what I would have given to you.’ In this way, you say they don’t need to honor their parents. And so you cancel the word of God for the sake of your own tradition." (Mat.15.4-6.NLT)
John the Baptist demanded, "Prove by the way you live that you have repented of your sins and turned to God. Don’t just say to each other, ‘We’re safe, for we are descendants of Abraham......" (Luk.3.8.NLT)
Then Ananias and Sapphira gave a live show. "There was a certain man named Ananias who, with his wife, Sapphira, sold some property. He brought part of the money to the apostles, claiming it was the full amount. With his wife’s consent, he kept the rest. Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How could you do a thing like this? YOU WEREN'T LYING TO US BUT TO GOD!” (Act.5.1-4.NLT). Both died instantly.
Hypocrisy is deceit, insincerity, lying, dishonesty, all fit into the devil's character - run far away from it. Don't die unnecessary death.
THE WORD: Then Jesus called to the crowd to come and hear. “Listen,” he said, “and try to understand. It’s not what goes into your mouth that defiles you; you are defiled by the words that come out of your mouth.” (Mat.15.10-11.NLT)
