PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT.

PERFORMANCE AND AUTHENTICITY CHRISTIANS.
(Extract from WATCHMAN Nee teachings) The greatest tragedy of the Christian life is not weakness but the pretend of strength. We become experts in appearances; Sunday filled with perfect smiles, hands raised at the right moment, verses memorized. But what about when we return home? Who are we when no one is watching? This constant tension of who we appear to be and who we truly are is what may be called the collapse of superficial Christian life.
Christ did not die so that we can become actors on a religious stage. He gave His life so that we can live authentically as expressions of His Spirit. THE CHRISTIAN LIFE IS NOT ABOUT TRYING TO IMITATE CHRIST BUT ALLOWING CHRIST TO LIVE THROUGH US. This is the fundamental difference between religion and genuine relationship. "My old self has been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me. So I live in this earthly body by trusting in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me." (Gal.2.20.NLT)
CHRIST LIVES IN ME IS NOT AN EFFORT, IT IS A SURRENDER. IT IS NOT A PERFORMANCE, IT IS A PERMISSION.
God never asks you to do what only Christ can do through you. "So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image." (2 Cor.3.18.NLT). AUTHENTICITY IS NOT AN OPTION FOR THE CHRISTIAN, IT IS THE VERY PART OF TRANSFORMATION.
It is like two men walking along the road. One carrying a heavy burden on his back, hunched over and exhausted. The other walked freely without any weight. The first man live the Christian life by his own effort shouldering the weight of religious performance while the second man understood the secret of allowing Christ to live through him. Which of these men are you?
God is not waiting for you to become something you are not. He is waiting for you to recognise what He has already done in you. This allows us to abandon performance and step into the reality of life in the Spirit.
THE WORD: “But you are not controlled by your sinful nature. You are controlled by the Spirit if you have the Spirit of God living in you. (And remember that those who do not have the Spirit of Christ living in them do not belong to him at all.)"
(Rom.8.9.NLT)
