GOD TAKES US DOWN BEFORE LIFTING UP.
".........and provide for those who grieve in Zion— to bestow on them a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendor." (Isa.61.3.NIV)
There is a pattern here of trials and pains before success.
The valley before the mountain top
Weeping before joy.
Mourning before comfort.
Ashes before beauty
Fear before courage.
Barrenness before fruitfulness.
Whatever gets us in trouble is more likely to be what takes us out of it.
Moses', in other to save a Hebrew boy, a slave, from an Egyptian, killed the Egyptian, buried him and the fallout was he fled Egypt. It was his source of pain. God called the same Moses to go back to Egypt and deliver the Hebrew slaves from the Egyptians. It became his success story.
It was the dreams and the interpretations of dreams that got Joseph into the pit and eventually into prison. It was the interpretations of dreams that brought him success and elevation from prison to Governor.
It was the prayer life of Daniel that got him thrown in the lion's den and prayer got him out. "So Daniel prospered during the reign of Darius and the reign of Cyrus the Persian." (Dan.6.28.NIV)
Peter had to deny Jesus before he confessed Him and he became the first of the Apostles. We have to fall to rise.
Paul had to be blinded before he could see. Instead of killing the 'people of the way' as intended, he spread the gospel to save them. It became his success story.
Our Lord Jesus Christ had to go through the tunnel of suffering to be glorified. We are encouraged to endure suffering, to persevere, to build character that glorifies God.
It is this process that takes the world and the flesh out of us replacing with spiritual things and thinking. "Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters, whenever you face trials of many kinds,...."
