UNDERSTANDING THEY DO NOT HAVE!
“All day long I have held out my hands to a disobedient and obstinate people.” (Rom.10.21.NIV)Why are the people obstinate and lack understanding? Because they closed their minds to understanding. They hear only what they want to hear. They remember only what they want to remember. They deliberately shut out anything and everything else irrespective of the benefits to them.
“Go to this people and say, “You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving.” For this people’s heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them." (Act.28.26-27.NIV)
This words from Paul was addressed to the Jews as his reason for taking the gospel to the Gentiles. But this words are very relevant to many 'Christians' today. It is like saying, "CHRISTIAN VERSUS CHRISTIAN", those who have moved on and building relationships with Christ and those who are still stuck in Moses era. Have they heard the Good News? Yes, daily.
How do you know the difference?
If they embraced the Good News, there will be obvious changes in their lives and their character. Because "No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house."
(Mat.5.15.NLT). This is why Christians, real Christians, are the light to this dark world.
Unfortunately, most of us refuse to shine ensuring that the world remains in darkness. Do we have the right to complain that the world is upside down? Or say but how can I make a difference, am only one person out of billions of people on earth? The answer is in what Jesus taught on the Mount. ".......let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father." (Mat.5.16.NLT). You just play your part and He will multiply the effect. Don't join the bandwagon; be the exception to the rule. Yes, it will cost you some suffering but this is nothing compare to the reward in pleasing God.
There is still time to change. Do not settle for crumbs.
THE WORD: “Jesus said, “How can I describe the Kingdom of God? What story should I use to illustrate it? It is like a mustard seed planted in the ground. It is the smallest of all seeds, but it becomes the largest of all garden plants; it grows long branches, and birds can make nests in its shade.” (Mark.4.30-32.NLT)
