PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
Nov. 30th, 2025
“BE OF GOOD COURAGE.”
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33 NIV) In this world we will have trouble, trials, persecutions but we are more than conquerors through Christ who loved us (Rom. 8:37).
The persecution of Christians started with Jesus Christ and it is not going to stop until the Lord’s return. Recall that Stephen was stoned to death for this reason; for daring to speak the truth to a world in darkness. “And the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness did not comprehend it” (John 1:5 NKJV). After Stephen, James the brother of John was murdered by Herod. And because Herod saw that the killing of James pleased the Jews, he proceeded to seize Peter also. So, he arrested Peter for no reason other than that he was a Christian. (Acts 12:1-4) “So Peter was kept in prison, BUT THE CHURCH WAS EARNESTLY PRAYING TO GOD for him. The night before Herod was to bring him to trial, Peter WAS SLEEPING between two soldiers, bound with two chains, and sentries stood guard at the entrance. Suddenly an angel of the Lord appeared and a light shone in the cell. He struck Peter on the side and woke him up. “Quick, get up!” he said, AND THE CHAINS FELL OFF Peter’s wrists. (Acts 12:5-7 NIV). Peter was released from the stronghold of Herod not by the power of men but by the Spirit of God.
There are three things for us to do:
■ Preach the Good News in and out of season irrespective of the storm
■ Earnestly pray to God for the believers going through persecution right now. (The church was praying to God)
■ Keep our peace. (Peter in the heart of the persecution was sleeping while heaven was moved by the prayers of those gathered in the house of Mary, the mother of John Mark.)
The Jihadists have already chosen to go to hell like Herod (Satan in the flesh) who was publicly eaten by worms and died while Peter lived. Their killings and breathing of violence are to recruit more souls for hell. Do not be afraid of them. This is why we must preach the GOOD NEWS with love to save those who desire to be saved.
Meanwhile, the WORD of GOD grew and multiplied (Acts 12:23-24). Nobody can stop God's plan. May we not deny Christ.
THE WORD: "Then Peter came to himself and said, “Now I know without a doubt that the Lord has sent his angel and rescued me from Herod’s clutches and from everything the Jewish people were hoping would happen.” (Act.12.11.NIV)
