PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
Jan. 5th, 2026
PRAYERS CANNOT REPLACE OBEDIENCE TO GOD.
“If you are WILLING AND OBEDIENT, you will eat the good things of the land; but if you RESIST AND REBEL, you will be devoured by the sword.” For the mouth of the Lord has spoken. (Isaiah 1:19 NIV) This means that PRAYERS CANNOT REPLACE OBEDIENCE. GOD DECIDES IF AND WHEN TO ANSWER PRAYERS. BUT OBEDIENCE TO GOD’S WORD AUTOMATICALLY RELEASES BLESSINGS, EVEN WITHOUT PRAYER.
“If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. All these blessings will come on you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God: You will be blessed in the city and blessed in the country. (Deut. 28:1-3 NIV) For those of us who like shortcuts, knowing that the shortest distance between two points is a straight line, obedience to God and His word offer us that convenience. And God confirms this; “Every valley shall be filled in, every mountain and hill made low. The crooked roads shall become straight, the rough ways smooth.” (Luke 3:5 NIV)
■While prayer shows intimacy, obedience proves loyalty and commitment to God’s will.
■Prayer is not a transactional tool to get what you want; a life of obedience is a prerequisite for praying according to God’s will.
■God values obedient action over ritualistic words.
■Through obedience, believers are spiritually conditioned to understand and pray according to God’s will, guided by the Holy Spirit.
■Psalms 23 is the embodiment of obedience. Who do you think “His goodness and mercy follow?” Those who have made the Lord their SHEPHERD – obedient servants.
The prayers of the obedient servant are more of feedbacks and praises for God’s goodness and wonderful works. Think about it! You did what the Father wants you to do and the blessings follow; you come back singing and dancing and praising Him. And in-between, you make another request known. Do you ever wonder why Jesus Christ was always thanking the Father? “Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name.” (Psa. 100:4)
Obedience and not prayers make us take on His yoke which is light and easy in exchange for ours that are heavy and cumbersome. LET US LEARN TO WALK LIKE FREED MEN AND WOMEN.
THE WORD: Jesus replied, “But even more blessed are all who hear the word of God and put it into practice.” (Luk.11.28.NLT)
