WE ARE NOT CONSUMED.
“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions never fail.” (Lam. 3:22 NIV) Therefore, “When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze.” (Isa. 43:2 NIV) Why? Because the fourth man in the fire is with you.
Do you know Him well enough to know He will keep His promise no matter what and at whatever price? Yes, Jesus Christ is Lord. He was the fourth man in the furnace of fire prepared by king Nabuchadnezzar to consume the three Hebrew men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abed-Nego for refusing to bow to his gods or worship the gold image. These men fell down bound into the middle of the burning fiery furnace. But when Nabuchadnezzar looked, he saw not only that the men were walking freely in the fire as if they were skating on ice, not writing in pain, but untouched by the fire and there was a fourth man in the fire with them. He, Nabuchadnezzar, confessed that the “form of the fourth man is like the Son of God.” (Dan. 3:25)
He, Jesus, was in the boat when a furious storm came up on the lake, so that the waves swept over the boat. He was sleeping. The disciples, experienced fishermen, thought their end had come. When they woke Him up, He was disappointed that they didn't have enough faith. Because when Jesus is in the boat, the raging storm has no power to drown you. (Mat. 8:23-27) The storm is only raging, angry and terrifying but it is just a powerless, toothless bull dog when Jesus is your first priority.
“The wicked lie in wait for the righteous, intent on putting them to death; but the Lord will not leave them in the power of the wicked or let them be condemned when brought to trial.” (Psa. 37:32-33 NIV)
That you are still standing is a testament to His ever present presence in your life. Never doubt the power of Him who says, “Go, I will be with you even till the end of time.” “I will not leave you nor forsake you because I do not slumber nor sleep. And because I AM the goldsmith, and I created the weapons of war, No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” Why are you afraid? Trust Jesus explicitly.
THE WORD: “The wicked draw the sword and bend the bow to bring down the poor and needy, to slay those whose ways are upright. But their swords will pierce their own hearts and their bows will be broken.” (Psa. 37:14-15 NIV)
