WHAT DO YOU HAVE IN YOUR HOUSE?
The wife of a man from the company of the prophets cried out to Elisha, “Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that he revered the Lord. But now his creditor is coming to take my two boys as his slaves.” Elisha replied to her, “How can I help you? Tell me, what do you have in your house?” “Your servant has nothing there at all,” she said, “except a small jar of olive oil.” 2 Kings 4:1-2)
When you trust God with the little you have, LITTLE BECOMES MUCH. This widow trusted God with the small jar of olive oil, and from the small jar, many bigger jars were filled with olive oil that she was able to sell, paid off her debt, gained freedom for her two sons and have something left to live on. “She went and told the man of God, and he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debts. You and your sons can live on what is left.” (2 Kings 4:5-7 NIV)
What do you have to give? Do not say – Nothing. The formular is “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap.” (Luke 6:38 NIV). Everybody has something they can give to God for Him to multiply. All the ordinary men and women in the Bible gave God something that He turned into extraordinary things.
Recall the boy with the five loaves of bread and two fish? Jesus prayed and it fed 5000 men not counting the women and children and twelve baskets were filled with the left overs. I want to believe that the boy did not go home empty handed.
Abraham gave his little shaky faith and God turned his mustard seed faith into such a giant faith that he became the father of faith.
Jesus gave Himself and He was given a name that is above all names – that at the mention of His name, all knees shall bow and all tongues confess that HE IS LORD on earth, in heaven and even beneath the earth.
You may be ignorant of what you have, but if you prayerfully seek the face of God, He will lead you to what will make a positive change in your life. That ordinary thing you have that you count as nothing, when the power of God comes upon it, then you can be sure of extraordinary breakthrough!
THE WORD: “But blessed is the one who trusts in the Lord, whose confidence is in him. They will be like a tree planted by the water that sends out its roots by the stream. It does not fear when heat comes; its leaves are always green. It has no worries in a year of drought and never fails to bear fruit.” (Jer.17.7-8.NIV)
