WHAT ARE YOU WILLING TO RISK FOR THE KING?. - Devotional

PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Mar. 6th, 2026.

Can you risk it all just for the king? How far are you willing to go for the king? Can you stand alone with the king while others are fleeing? Apostle John stood alone with Jesus when nobody else did.

“During harvest time, three of the thirty chief warriors came down to David at the cave of Adullam, while a band of Philistines was encamped in the Valley of Rephaim. At that time David was in the stronghold, and the Philistine garrison was at Bethlehem.  David longed for water and said, “Oh, that someone would get me a drink of water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem!” So the three mighty warriors broke through the Philistine lines, drew water from the well near the gate of Bethlehem and carried it back to David. But he refused to drink it; instead, he poured it out before the Lord. “Far be it from me, Lord, to do this!” he said. “Is it not the blood of men who went at the risk of their lives?” (2 Sam. 23:13-17 NIV)

Who were these three chief warriors and why did they stand out while other soldiers buried their heads in the sand?

  1. Josheb-Basshebeth, was chief of the Three; he raised his spear against eight hundred men, whom he killed in one encounter.

  2. Eleazar, son of Dodai,  stood his ground and struck down the Philistines till his hand grew tired and froze to the sword.

  3. Shammah, son of Agee, took his stand in the middle of the field. He defended it and struck the Philistines down, and the Lord brought about a great victory.

The three heroes risked their lives by breaking through Philistine lines simply because David expressed a craving for water from his hometown, Bethlehem.

Many of us are in/with the crowd never willing to stand out because of what people will say! Many do not have the spine, nor the faith to stand for the King. Courage failed many because they never had it. What are you willing to risk JUST FOR THE KING - Jesus Christ?

THE WORD: Then he said to them all: “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.” (Luke 9:23 NIV)
