PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT
May 7th, 2026.
This is a question that has crossed the minds of thousands of believers especially when they fall back into sin. The doubt creeps in followed by dejection and resignation. Jesus said; “All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out.” (John 6:37 NKJV) “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand.” (John 10:27-29 NIV) “I will never leave you nor forsake you” (Deut. 31:8; Heb. 13:5). These are absolute assurances/promises that should keep the believer standing strong in Christ Jesus.
Just as it was when the Lord led the Israelites out of Egypt so it is now when the believer surrenders to the call of John 3:16. We are led out of the world to cross the ‘Red Sea’. From that point at the edge of the Read Sea, it is a forward movement. God said to Moses “tell them to move forward.” (Exo.14:15) The Red Sea parted and the believers crossed on dry land (by God’s supernatural power) and then, the sea closed up. It is a one-way ticket. Even if you desired to go back like the Israelites did, you cannot return - there is no way back to Egypt and the enemies in pursuit cannot reach you because they all died in the Red Sea. Worst scenario, you die in the wilderness. But no going back. The moment you receive Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour, you receive His seal, the seal of the Holy Spirit. This is the new identity, the new creation badge.
But why do I feel insecure? Because the old self and the new you are now at war. You are walking towards becoming like Jesus Christ. It is like moving into a new city - you have to learn the rules - things you are not used to. In the world, you are a condemned and already judged criminal. But now that you have crossed over, sin is judged instantly and forgiveness is also instant following confession and repentance.
In addition, Jesus said; “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world.” (John 6:51 NIV) This means eating from the tree of life (Gen. 3:22) “If anyone’s work is burned, he will suffer loss; but he himself will be saved, yet so as through fire.” (1 Cor. 3:15 NIV)
THE WORD: “Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realize that Christ Jesus is in you—unless, of course, you fail the test?” (2 Cor. 13:5 NIV)
