PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

A false prophet places himself directly in the path of destruction because he challenges the God of truth - the God that cannot lie. It is written: “It is impossible for God to lie (Heb. 6:18). For God is not a man that He should lie (Num. 23:19). This is why there is no reduced sentence for false prophet than death and Hell. “... a prophet who presumes to speak in my name anything I have not commanded, or a prophet who speaks in the name of other gods, is to be put to death.” (Deut.18:20 NIV) Jezebel who led God’s people to worship Baal died a horrible death and dogs ate her just as God said (1 Kings 21:23) “If anyone causes one of these little ones—those who believe in me—to stumble, it would be better for them to have a large millstone hung around their neck and to be drowned in the depths of the sea.” (Mat. 18:6 NIV)


The prophet Hananiah son of Azzur, who was from Gibeon, was a prophet who spoke what the people wanted to hear. God said the captives to Babylon will spend seventy years in captivity but Hananiah said God told him it will only be two years. Prophet Jeremiah said to Hananiah the prophet, “Listen, Hananiah! The Lord has not sent you, yet you have persuaded this nation to trust in lies.”......the Lord says: ‘I am about to remove you from the face of the earth. This very year you are going to die, because you have preached rebellion against the Lord.”  In the seventh month of that same year, Hananiah the prophet died.” (Jer. 28:15-17)


Elijah stood in the midst of 850 prophets of Baal (450) and Asherah (400) and declared that the God that answered by fire shall be God. Baal was supposed to be the god of rain. Yet there was drought in the land for three and half years and it did not send down rain. God answered by fire and none of the false prophets escaped death that day. (1 Kings 18)


There are so many false prophets in churches and the internet. Their messages are exactly what you want to hear. So many prayer programmes but not many for studying the Word. “The coming of the lawless one is according to the working of Satan, with all power, signs, and lying wonders, and with all unrighteous deception among those who perish, because they did not receive the love of the truth, that they might be saved.” (2 Thes. 2:9-10 NKJV) Test every spirit. God is not far away. He is near you, in your mouth and in your heart. (Rom. 10:8)


THE WORD:  “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth.” (2 Tim. 2:15 NIV)
