PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

Could it be because of what he did or because of what he represented? Or both - a double-edged sword? (Heb. 4:12) The scriptures presented Moses as the man who spoke with God face to face and also as representing the Law. (Exo. 24:12; Malachi 4:4)
The question now is, why will Moses appear on the Mount of Transfiguration if his not entering the promised land was a punishment?
But the Lord said to Moses and Aaron, “Because you did not trust in me enough to honor me as holy in the sight of the Israelites, you will not bring this community into the land I give them.” (Num. 20:12 NIV) Why? “Moses raised his arm and struck the rock twice with his staff” instead of what God actually told him - “Speak to that rock before their eyes and it will pour out its water.” (Num. 20:8 & 11)
“ For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.” (John 1:17 NIV) Here, Moses represents the Law and Jesus Christ represents Grace. “Through Him, Jesus, everyone who believes is set free from every sin, a justification you were not able to obtain under the law of Moses.” (Acts 13:39 NIV) While the Law reveals humanity’s sinfulness, it is faith in Christ’s sacrifice that ultimately frees believers from sin, death, and condemnation.
The Law reveals sin but it cannot save anyone from the consequence of sin which is death. This may be why all those Israelites who received the Law died in the wilderness but for Caleb and Joshua who lived by faith. Those Israelites who crossed the Jordan river were all ‘new born’ in the wilderness - they did not have the Egypt experience. So, the Law did not cross the Jordan river into the promised land. Moses did not enter the promised land because he represented the Law. In the Old Testament, the emphasis is the Law of Moses; in the New Testament, it is Grace and Truth.
Jesus said to them, “This is what I told you while I was still with you: Everything must be fulfilled that is written about me in the Law of Moses, the Prophets and the Psalms. Then he opened their minds so they could understand the Scriptures.” (Luke 24:44-45 NIV) All of what He told them was fulfilled in Him. Hence He wrote; "I have not come to abolish the law, but to fulfill it" It explains His mission to complete the teachings of the Old Testament rather than discard them (Matthew 5:17).
You cannot mix living under the law and living under grace.
THE WORD: “You who are trying to be justified by the law have been alienated from Christ; you have fallen away from grace. 5 For through the Spirit we eagerly await by faith the righteousness for which we hope.” (Gal. 5:4-5 NIV)
