PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

“Then he called for a LIGHT, ran in, and fell down trembling before Paul and Silas. And he brought them out and said, “Sirs, what must I do to be saved?” So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” (Acts 16:29-31 NIV)
Abraham sent his servant Eliezer: “go to my country and my own relatives and get a wife for my son Isaac.” (Gen. 24:4) “God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him.” (John 3:17) God also sent His son.
There is a pattern or foreshadowing between the story of Rebekah at the well (Genesis 24) and Jesus' encounter with the Samaritan woman at the well (John 4). God leads us from known to the unknown. The stories we read in the Old Testament are leading us to Jesus Christ the ultimate or the climax. And this emphasizes the need for all to believe and come to Jesus Christ before it is too late. The whole of the Bible is Jesus - that should tell us more than something. JESUS IS THE ONE WORD OF GOD.
Eliezer journeyed to the town of Nahor, prayed, and waited at the well. Shortly after, Rebekah came to draw water. Eliezer asked for a drink of water, Rebekah gave him. They both introduced themselves, after which Rebekah ran to her family and told them about Eliezer the servant of Abraham. That day, Rebekah agreed to go with Eliezer to become Isaac’s wife. She later became the mother of Jacob and Esau. (Gen. 24) Jesus journeyed to Galilee through Samaria and came to a town called Sychar. He was resting there when the Samaritan woman came to the well for water. They struck a conversation and Jesus asked for a drink and then told her He could give her water and she would thirst no more. The woman, when she realised who Jesus was, ran to tell the whole village.
Eliezer gave gold to Rebekah, Jesus gave the Samaritan woman water of life. Both women were thirsty. Rebekah needed a husband and the Samaritan woman needed stability. Rebekah was clean, the Samaritan was unclean. Rebekah later became the mother of Jacob who became Israel. The Samaritan woman became the first to spread the gospel to the Gentiles. Jesus, a descendant of Jacob, came to unite both Jews and Gentiles to God. (For better understanding, read Genesis 24 and John 4:1-42) Eliezer spent the night at Nahor, Jesus spent two extra days at Sychar. Both women became brides - one to Isaac (a type of Christ) and the other to Christ Jesus.
Abraham wanted a perfect bride for his son. Jesus came for the marginalized, the broken, and the outcast to make them perfect. No one is condemned. Come to Jesus and He will make you whole.
