PRACTICAL CHRISTIANITY - MEDITATE DAY AND NIGHT

"Not that we are competent in ourselves to claim anything for ourselves, but our competence comes from God." (2 Cor. 3:5 NIV) Our best, most "righteous" deeds are flawed and imperfect when compared to God's pure holiness. (Ref. Isa. 64:6)
Let us look at some events:
Cain and Abel: Cain offering came from what he planted - he was a farmer. Abel’s offering was of the firstborn of his flock - he was a shepherd. The animal he offered was all God’s work and he presented it as God ordained it.
Ishmael was the plan of Sarah, Abraham and Haggai. Isaac was the work of God and the world knew that it was impossible for Sarah to be pregnant at ninety years old.
Esau and Jacob: Before they were born, God declared Jacob I love; Esau I hate. “Is God unjust? Not at all! For he says to Moses, “I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion.” It does not, therefore, depend on human desire or effort, but on God’s mercy.” (Rom 9:14-16 NIV)
Job was a wealthy man before his encounter with Satan. Job built his wealth with his own hands (Job 29:7-25) He was strip naked and God built him up - his righteousness was the work of God.
Peter, who was a bold and impulsive man who spoke his mind, and even rebuked Jesus (Mat. 16:22-23) surrendered fully to God’s will after Jesus’ resurrection, after he was brought back into the fold. He was broken and fixed by God unto perfection. “The mind governed by the flesh is hostile to God; it does not submit to God’s law, nor can it do so. Those who are in the realm of the flesh cannot please God.” (Rom. 8:7-8 NIV)
The provision of death on the cross because our works and the law could not take away our sin. “But by the free gift of God's grace all are put right with him through Christ Jesus, who sets them free. God offered him, so that by his blood he should become the means by which people's sins are forgiven through their faith in him. God did this in order to demonstrate that he is righteous.” (Rom 3:24-26 GNT)
“One of you will say to me: “Then why does God still blame us? For who is able to resist his will?” But who are you, a human being, to talk back to God? “Shall what is formed say to the one who formed it, ‘Why did you make me like this?” (Rom. 9:19-20)
The truth is we can impress people but we cannot impress God. Let us stop the performance and allow God to work in us for His Glory. Surrender you ALL.
THE WORD: “In a large house there are articles not only of gold and silver, but also of wood and clay; some are for special purposes and some for common use. Those who cleanse themselves from the latter will be instruments for special purposes, made holy, useful to the Master and prepared to do any good work.” (2 Tim. 2:20-21 NIV)
